Teaching Overview
I mostly use a facilitative approach in my classrooms, blending conventional instruction with with highly involved forms of active student learning. I believe in grounding geography and planning education in ongoing struggles for justice, and use course materials illustrative of practice, theory and lived experience to this end. I try to ensure my classrooms are places where students feel comfortable grappling with big and unfamiliar ideas, challenging one another constructively, and exercising agency over the terms of their learning.
I currently teach across programs in Urban Planning and Geography. I am most passionate about teaching:
Land-Use & Social Planning
Histories & Theories of Planning and the Urban
Global Indigenous Politics
Critical Military Studies (Pacific Focus)
Community Development & Diaspora
